Poverty and Happiness

I do not think Singapore is a happy country. According to the Happy Planet Index, it shows that Singapore's happiness index is only 39.8, lower than many countries like Vietnam and Indonesia which has a lower GDP per capita than Singapore. Singaporeans may be a bit more wealthy, but are also at the same time are stressed with all the work they have. Singapore has also a high cost of living which makes people unhappy as people think that things should be cheaper like in less developed countries like Vietnam and Indonesia. Although the people in less developed countries usually do no earn as much money as people who live in more developed cities, they are usually happier as they just live their life happily without all the worries people living in developed places have. People tend to worry not having enough money and are also not really contented with many things that others do not really have.
Thus we can say being rich does not mean being happy. People also treasure things more when they do not have them and Singaporeans usually take what they have for granted and keep asking for more. Besides, everyone has their own perspective of happiness and there are always people who are happier than others. Thus I think that Happiness should not be connected with money and how happy a person thinks he is all depends on himself. He can think that he is poor and is unhappy about it but he can also think more positive and still be happy.
