FINALE- the four are people floating in the air with long dresses that make them look like they are flying in the air which also symbolize that Singapore would continue to progress very quickly.
In year's Chingay parade, there are about 65 primary and secondary schools who are audiences to this preview. At the floating platform, the atmosphere there was really high and students are all impressed and shocked about the breathe taking performances. Many of them took out their hand phones to take photos and that includes me and my other three friends as well. We have been so excited and have been shouting our lungs out. Although all four of us are not Singaporeans, we are really impressed by the performance.
This year, the theme of the Chingay parade is "Lights of legacy, Brighter Singapore". For me, I think that the purpose of this event is to commemorate the values that Prime minister Lee Kuan Yew and other founding fathers established, including social harmony , hard work and perseverance, all the people work hard to build a better future for Singapore. Just like the pictures above, i think we all are included in this preview because based on the theme, "Lights of Legacy, Brighter Singapore", a sea of lights should be formed. However, there would not be a sea of lights even with the lightings and all the lights that the performers are wearing. So the way that all 65 schools are supportive to make the performance a successful one makes us all involved in it by waving our clappers and wearing our light bulb to really make a sea of lights.
The theme for Chingay 2014 is ''Colors of Fabric, One People''. 1500 Pieces of Community-Knitted Tapestries, big and small, contributed by Constituencies and more than 30 Schools, Organisations and Corporations which presented into two 360m nicely knitted art pieces that exemplifies a closer knit Singapore. The theme for Chingay 2015 is "We Love SG". There is a thousand colorful multi-cultural performers, Lighted and glittering Grand Finale by 3000 performers in stunning costumes and JJ Lin (林俊杰) as anchor singer at Chingay Grand Finale. The theme of 2016, as mentioned above many times, is "Lights of legacy, Brighter Singapore" . The parade opens with an energetic vibe that promises to wow the audiences as 800 youths dressed in lighted costumes illuminate the dimmed 360-metre parade route in an upbeat choreography. Today's youths, tomorrow's future, guided by the wisdom of our founding fathers, kick-starts the parade as we begin the voyage to SG 100. The Chinese, Malay and Indian cultural performances draws audiences in appreciation of local cultural heritage and legacies through performing arts and music. This also showed Singapore's specialness, a multi rational country and yet it is peaceful between each race and there was no racism and a phrase to describe this is "Because we are different, we are one." The brightest talents from china, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, USA, Taiwan and Thailand shares the stage alongside the local stars in a burst of exuberance of their performances. This shows that Singapore has many allies in other parts of the world and this also showed how Singapore has progressed and improved, from a country that no one knows till a country that most people know today. There are also stunning pole dancers, graceful ballerinas, cool hip hop dancers, boisterous Tambourine players, are definite hits with their vivacious dance moves as an attraction to people at all ages. This is to show that Singapore is a vibrant and united community although with different races. And for the grand finale, 3000 performers will light up Singapore's city skyline with bright bulb-shaped Sky Lanterns that carries the commitment of Singaporeans, towards the values that are taught by the founding fathers, towards a brighter future Singapore.
So what's the change since the 2014 Chingay and why did this change happen? In my opinion, i think is values that each theme carry that are different, Chingay 2014's theme has the value of how bonded Singapore is, Chingay 2015's theme has the value of feeling at home and feeling proud as being a Singaporean, while the theme for Chingay 2016 has the value of having a brighter future and that Singapore would get better and better till SG 100. This change happen because this year is Singapore's golden jubilee, Singapore's 50th birthday and in order to let Singaporeans know how much Singapore had improved and that Singapore's future belong to youngsters like us now and Singapore would make it to SG 100. The fact that Singapore had sailed through 50 years despite of all the hardships that come in its way and that the values brought by the founding fathers have guided Singapore through 50 years and these values would guide through Singapore for another 50 years tells us that we should treasure what we have now and strive for a better and brighter future for the next generations.
So in conclusion, I learnt a lot as mentioned above and if there is another chance, I would love to go for next year's Chingay Parade.
