Chingay Parade 2016 - Lights of legacy, Brighter Singapore

This was my first time attending Chingay NE Show and I was amazed by the spectacular performance.
At first, I don't really know what Chingay Show is about but after the performance I knew that The Chingay parade is an annual street parade held in Singapore as part of the Chinese New Year festivities.
I think the purpose of Chingay is to celebrate Lunar Chinese New Year as it has become a uniquely Singaporean Lunar New Year tradition. This year theme is 'Lights of Legacy, Brighter Singapore'. It is a tribute to our late founding Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew which contain the core values as we step towards SG100.

Through this platform, we also can also join all the religions together and promote Singapore's spirit of racial harmony and let the world know that Singapore is a united country.

Multi-racial performance:

The first Chingay Parade was mooted by Mr Lee Kuan Yew, with the purpose that with all its noise and gaiety, would compensate for the ban on firecrackers, a customary New Year practice to drive away evil spirits. However, today Chingay is a national festival, celebrated by Singaporeans across the island as well as the world. In my opinion, I think the purpose had change is because of we living in a multi-racial society. Chingay in now celebrated by all races and even from other countries.

Performers from other country:

The organizers had successfully fulfilled this purpose as the Chingay parade made people of all ages, races, languages together, performers also put in their best effort and we as a audience were enjoying ourselves.
